Bright and Cheerful Admin Whiz – Lianne Kenny

Lianne is bright. That truly is the first word that comes to mind. Her beaming smile and warm personality has made her a beautiful addition to Trehaus. Lianne is founder of Bright Virtual Services, which offers administrative services to small businesses and entrepreneurs with all the tasks that they don’t have time for. She has brought her little one, Sienna, to Trehaus with her. The music-loving, cheerful Sienna loves interacting with the children in the Atelier, and always has a twinkle in her eye. Meet the Kennys – the golden girls of our community!

How did you hear about Trehaus, and what has your experience at Trehaus been so far?

I’d been aware of Trehaus for some time and had been following them on social media. As a sole proprietor, Trehaus has been a great way to feel part of a community. The Trehaus staff are so welcoming and friendly. The Atelier staff are fantastic with Sienna, and I can completely relax knowing that she is being taken care of. I love the bright open space of the Atelier and that this is also reflected in the working space. I also enjoying chatting to the other parents working from here.

What is your typical day like coming to work with Sienna, and what are the changes in Sienna since she started coming to Trehaus?

I tend to get to Trehaus between 9.30 and 10am. As soon as we get in the lift, Sienna gets excited. She loves coming here. I drop her off and get set up in the office space. I’m confident in the Atelier staff to look after Sienna, so I tend to knuckle down and get as much work done as possible. I do make sure I take breaks and these mainly consist of going into the Atelier to have some playtime with Sienna.

What a great way to work, being able to pop in and see my little one whenever I like. I’m very lucky to be able to do this. I love that Sienna hangs out with children of different ages; and she learns from them all. From speaking some words to ‘broom-broom’-ing cars, she has grown loads and meanwhile, is learning about sharing and interacting with others.

What inspired you to start your business? Tell us a bit about it.

As a trailing spouse, I gave up my career to move to Singapore. I tried to find work but didn’t get very far so I thought I would set up my own business doing something I loved. I support small businesses and entrepreneurs with all the tasks that they don’t have time for, so that they can focus on the important stuff like growing their business. I offer services such as content writing (blogs/websites), social media management, setting up systems, formatting and proofreading plus other administrative tasks.

How has being in this space as a coworker impacted your business?

I have been able to grow my client list as well as making sure I am reaching deadlines. Without this space, I would have really struggled with this, particularly with not having full time help at home. After Sienna was born I was keen to get back to work and every other week I get approached by a new client recommendation, so I needed somewhere to not only work but to grow my business.

How has being at Trehaus helped you in your parenting journey?

It’s been great to be around other parents, particularly those who are business owners as they understand what it’s like to work for yourself with a little one. I feel supported as ‘Sienna’s mum’ here at Trehaus, but also as a business owner. I’ve made some lovely friends along the way!

Any words of advice for a mumpreneur like you who would like to bring an active toddler to work?

When you have a child, the time just flies – and I feel so, so lucky to have been able to work alongside Sienna, particularly during this time where she is developing and growing so quickly. If you get the opportunity to work from Trehaus, you won’t regret it. It really is a great place, and there should be more of this in the corporate world for sure. I know my husband would love to have this set up where he is (although not sure how much work he would get done!).
